1) What qualities did Sinclair believe a person must have to succeed in Packingtown?
- hardwork - fast work " that man who had been sent to jurgis's fathers by the boss, he would rise; The man who told tales and spied upon his fellows would rise; but the man who minded his own business would and did his work would " speed him up" till they had worn him out , then they would throw him in the gutter" This just showed that they would be cruel to the people who came just to get things done. and the people who were sent to the boss were successful.
2)According to the passage, what is the plant owner's main goal.
The plant owners goal was to make the highest amount of money he could but for cheep. Doing anything to get the money, but he over worked his workers for putting them through extreme working conditions.
3) What does Sinclair mean when he says, "...there was no place in it where a man counted for anything against a dollar....?"
He would not trust any of because there was no honesty throughout the working environment. Alot of jealously and hating one another also went on.
Environment:
The government enforces the environment by having the services Environmental Protection Agency, the Forest Service, the Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, or any of their variations at the federal, state, and local levels. They protect the environment so nothing can ruin the land that was here before us. Having those enforcements help keep our environment clean and protected in case of emergency.

Lynching
Lynching
Lynching in the U.S has been happening since the 19th
century to the Blacks in America. Lynching was the threating the whites did to
the African Americans in the U.S. They were
threatened with lynching through out the 19th and 20th century.
No matter what gender, age, or reason the whites would lynch any black they
felt the need to. Whites used lynching
to cause fear to the blacks, whites thought they were much more superior to the
blacks so they used Lynching as a threat. Lynching
started before slavery. Lynching was known as the “violent drop back into the
south”
Whites
felt very pressured with the prominence of the blacks. Most whites had the
thought that black men were sexual predators towards the women of America. They
also thought the blacks were using white women to become part of the U.S
citizen ship. The fear between races in this century was the biggest fear for
most Americans.
